Senior Wealth Advisor at Fiduciary Financial Advisors Jeff Janson was interviewed at Exchange 2025. “I’m kind of an old guy,” Janson joked, “I’ve been in the industry for over thirty years, I have a lot of varied experience.”
Janson on his bread & butter
Janson started in corporate retirement, working on 401(k)s. He still educates on the matter, letting firms now about their fiduciary responsibilities. However, Janson shared, “My real bread and butter is working with retirees and preretirees creating what I call a paycheck replacement plan.”
He works to help those around the retirement age prepare their portfolio in such a way that they can replace their paychecks in an inflation-conscious and tax efficient manner. “Paying attention to those two things will make a huge difference in allowing the portfolio to last longer.” With many people not paying attention to tax efficiency in the distribution phase of their retirement, Janson sees an opportunity to bring value to his clients.
Advice for a changing world
Asked about his investment philosophy, Janson shared two pillars: sustainability through index funds and buffered ETFs, and what he calls an “opportunity set.” That sleeve looks to disruptive tech like quantum computing, robotics, and bitcoin.
“What makes me different than most advisors is I’ve been leaning into the disruptive technology space for quite awhile,” he shared. “I was actually the first financial advisor in the United States to get a designation in blockchain and digital assets.” Accordingly, he sees disruptive tech as the growth engine in the portfolio that can help his clients have a successful retirement.
